Rederij Art Cruises/ Varend Atelier
Artcruises offers you and your friends (max. 8 persons) the possibility to visit an outstanding beautiful part of Holland. It is an area of lakes near Leiden and not far from Amsterdam. Its both cultural and natural landscape with its windmills and farms is famous.
You can book a day trip to discover it by yacht.
In advance you can make a choice for an artteacher who will give you a workshop. You can do a workshop in modelling, painting, writing poetry, writing and composing a song, playing African drums, making pictures.
We teach at an island of the Kagerplassen. For more information you can send an email or give a call. The teachers all speak English and some do speak french and german as well.

Special millcruises
You can visit Molen de Valk the “Stellingkorenmolen” ( tower mill) in the inner city of Leiden.
‘De Valk’ (The Falcon) is a tower mill, dating from 1743. It has seven floors, all of which are open to the public. Visit this beautifull and large mill first. It still got the original interior which was left by the last member of the millers family van Rhijn. From tuesday till saturday the mill is open to the public from 10.00 AM. At sunday it opens later. You will spend about one hour in the mill. Afterwards you can book a mill cruise.
You pass the mills of the “Kagerplassen” by yacht. You will take a close look at the mills you only can visit by using a ship. We are flexible so you got the time to make good pictures of the mills and the beautiful dutch landscape of the lake district.

Informatie Zomeracademie Leidse Hout
In de zomermaanden juni, juli ,augustus en september bestaat de mogelijkheid deel te nemen aan de artistieke Zomeracademie Leidse Hout in de Leidse Hout. De academie organiseert elke week een workshopweek.
In de nabijheid van het theehuis van De Leidse Hout zijn een aantal plekken waar wij als groep kunnen werken.
Door de aanwezigheid van het hertenkamp met reeën, kalkoenen en andere dieren die tot artistieke studie kunnen dienen hebben wij ook levende have als onderwerp. Wij kunnen schilderen, tekenen, boetseren en zelfs beeldhouwen in albast.
Ieder zoekt zijn of haar eigen plekje in elkaars nabijheid om naar de natuur of de omgeving te werken. Wil je liever een ander onderwerp, print dan meerdere afbeeldingen vanuit verschillende hoeken als voorbeeld uit. Jeroen Spijker verzorgt de artistieke begeleiding en geeft advies of helpt je (verder) op gang. Het is mogelijk om in fasen naar abstractie te werken of meer figuratief gericht te zijn. Intuïtief werken kan ook. De begeleiding is individueel gericht en naar behoefte, dus geef aan hoe u er zelf instaat tijdens de eerste les.
Een prettige en gezellige werksfeer gaan hand in hand met het streven naar goede resultaten. Door de ruime les-ervaring van Jeroen Spijker is het mogelijk om begeleiding te krijgen in diverse technieken (olieverf, acryl, aquarel, tekenen, boetseren en beeldhouwen).
Deelname aan de Zomeracademie Leidse Hout staat open voor amateurs; beginners en gevorderden. Voor de een zal het een eerste kennismaking zijn met bijvoorbeeld boetseren, voor de ander is het een manier om binnen een georganiseerde activiteit elke week een moment te hebben om met gelijkgestemden artistiek aan het werk te zijn in de buitenlucht.
Materialen: neem de materialen en spullen mee die u denkt nodig te hebben. Voor de aankoop van boetseermaterialen (witte klei, houtjes en schildersmaterialen verwijs ik naar Terpentijn op de Nieuwe Rijn te Leiden, LTC Leiden BV, zie www.ltcleiden.nl en de Hazelaar in Soest om beitels te bestellen via de website. Bij de De Beeldhouwwinkel in Den Haag kunt u albast uitzoeken). In overleg kunnen wij zorg dragen voor enkele boetseerbokken, beeldhouwbokken of tafelezels. Door samenwerking met het theehuis kan ook bij minder weer worden gewerkt.
In het theehuis Leidse hout kunnen op eigen kosten consumpties worden genuttigd. Na afloop is er de mogelijkheid om op eigen gelegenheid in het theehuis te lunchen.
Winteracademie Leiden 2026
De Winteracademie Jeroen Spijker vindt plaats in december, tussen kerst en nieuwjaar 2026. De winteracademie richt zich op boetseren in klei en was. Beeldhouwen en schilderen zijn ook mogelijk, dit in overleg. Even iets heel anders!
Compleet Winteracademie programma: vier dagen van zondag 27 tot en met woensdag 30 december 2026. Tussen 10.00 uur en 12.00 uur en 12.30 uur en 14.30 uur wordt dagelijks les gegeven. Tussentijds is er een gezamenlijke eenvoudige lunch in het atelier.

Sculpting, Modelling and Painting week Leidse Hout
In Leidse Hout Leiden/ Oegstgeest we organise a special workshopweeks “en plein air”. The ‘Waterlely’ is the spot for the best decor you can wish for our artistic searching. You can sculpt in alabaster or work with clay. A theehouse to lunch and have coffee is located at 50 meters distance.
You will get a training by sculptor and arthistorian Jeroen Spijker.
The lessons take place from monday till friday. 11.00 tot 13.00, lunch between 13.00 – 14.00 pm, lessons: 14.00 till 16.00 pm.
